To Oblivion
Directed by Robert Cappalletto.

To Oblivion is a futuristic foray into Lovecraft's short "Ex Oblivione" (loosley based mind you) and succeeds on many levels.  Not only does the cinematography look good, but the direction Robert Cappalletto takes on his adaptation is executed without flaw.  A surreal look at a young man who yearns to escape to a world of beauty and wonder he can only realize in his dreams.  Only after discovering a yellowed tome in his dream-quests does he decide to venture on and leave the physical world behind.  And as the last words are spoken, we understand the character's motivation.  Excellent fare and worth the download!  The soundtrack is enough reward for the wait (I got a Tangerine Dream mixed with Peter Gabriel impression).

An interesting note, this film won first place at the short film contest at the 1999 NecronomiCon (which I had skipped out on for a Robert MacLaughlin CoCLive event-which was regretable, but I am glad the film is posted online, and I have a fast enough connection to enjoy the higher quality download)
