From Beyond
Directed by Ken Avenoso and Andrew Migliore.

No offense to the wonderful Brian Yuzna and Stuart Gordon...but this film is better than the big budget film of the same name.  Simply because there is no bondage, no goofy acting, and absolutely no extra sensory apendages popping out of heads.  If Gordon had kept the film to what we saw in the first 10 or so minutes of his film, it would have garnered my upmost respects...but the minute I see Barbara Crampton in leather, I start to think..."hey this is a tad bit of embelishment on Lovecraft's original isn't it?"  On the other end of the spectrum, this film sticks close to the original.
I like the acting on this one.  It was pretty solid.  The actors had to have known their lines well, or there are alot of takes on the cutting room floor.  The music for the film is courtesy of Richard Band and is from the Gordon version of From Beyond.  The music flows seemlessly with the action and really hightens the tension.  And the machine effects at the end are pretty creative.

frombeyond1.wav The main character confronts Crawford on the lack of funding for project.

frombeyond2.wav  The protagonist tells the police detective of the events behind the death of Tillanghast.

frombeyond3.wav  Crawford, a tad bit mad, describes his intent with the machine.

frombeyond4.wav  Well, Crawford has gone a tad bit more mad, and reveals to the main character what exactly dwells from beyond.
