From Beyond (1986) From Beyond came out in 1986, about a year after Re-Animator, which is now considered a cult classic. There was a lot of hype generated, seeing as how it teamed up the same creative forces as with Re-Animator: Producer Brian Yuzna, director Stuart Gordon, actors Jeffery Combs and Barbara Crampton. It didn't do as well with the critics or in the box office, but this movie is still a great movie. It starts out with the same premiss as the short story by the same name, Dr. Pretorius and Crawford Tillanghast are experimenting with the pineal gland, attempting to break through to a new horizon of sense. The movie takes off with that premiss to deliver gallons of blood, gory special effects and some classic Jeffery Combs scenes. Although Yuzna and Combs took many liberties with the screenplay, they still came up with a fine movie. Not of Lovecraft quality, but still worthwhile. fb1.wav Tillanghast begs Pretorius to shut off The Resonator before something grave happens. fb2.wav Pretorius realizes that something has found them. fb3.wav Tillanghast explains to the psychologists what happened when Pretorius lost his head (literally!). fb4.wav Tillanghast maintains that he is not insane. fb5.wav When they return to the house and restart The Resonator, it finds them.
