Babylon Park: Frightspace (1998)
I was never a big fan of
Babylon 5, but I was interested in creator J. Michael Straczynski's
fondness of Lovecraft and the Cthulhu Mythos (previous infamous
for writing the Mythos influenced Real Ghostbusters cartoon episode
"Russian About" while working as a story editor for
the series). It seems as though Babylon Park creators Christopher
Russo and Brian Roe were also intrigued by his Lovecraft influence
because it factors heavily into this Babylon 5 / South park parody.
This animated foray into the future takes us to Babylon Park
after a relic is found floating in space and towed back.
Unfortunately, its Nyarlathotep...and after being released he
is dead set on continuing with his plans on opening the way for
the Great Old Ones. Of course, we get a healthy dose of
our favorite characters such as Centori Ambassador Lerdo Martman
(who is somtimes found speaking with a piece of excriment), John
"Nuke 'em" Sherman, Security Head Mr. Garazoni (and
his companion Mr. Zak), and of course Commander Ivana Nova.
Plus, its a big bonus to hear the actually voices the likes of
Patricia Tallman, Wayne Alexander, Robin Atkin-Downes Neely Stewart
and more!! babylonparkau1.rm Nyarlathotep instructs his servants on the preparation of the way for his lords. babylonparkau2.rm Mr. Mi-Go and his "cylinder" board Babylon Park to wait for the arrival of the Great Old Ones. babylonparkau3.rm
Lerdo and G'Kai discuss the nature of an ancient relic towed
back to Babylon Park.
